Using Sigmafine to Improve Gross Margin at Chevron Refineries

This presentation discusses how Sigmafine is being utilized to facilitate and address the business challenges associated with Chevron’s Gross Margin Improvement initiative. Specifically expanding the current use of Sigmafine to more business users and incorporating Sigmafine into Chevron’s core business processes.   This involved expanding the model and configuration and utilizing additional Pimsoft applications to build on the solution.  Some examples of the additional Pimsoft application include but are not limited to; The Intelligent Movement Management System, Integration Framework, and SF SQL Access.


About Chevron Pascagoula Refinery

Chevron Pascagoula Refinery celebrated its 56th anniversary in 2019. Since beginning operation in 1963, the refinery has grown to be the corporation’s largest U.S. refinery and one of the top petroleum refineries in the United States.

Our Pascagoula refinery manufactures fuels and other products sold under the Chevron®, Texaco® and Caltex® brands. The refinery can process approximately 369,000 barrels per day of crude oil to produce gasoline, jet fuel and diesel fuel. Our other products include aviation gasoline, petroleum coke, sulfur and fuel oils such as Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).

The refinery’s specialty products include benzene and ethylbenzene, used in the manufacturing of a wide range of products, including automobile tires, sporting goods, nylon and pharmaceuticals; propylene, used in the manufacture of plastics; and premium base oils, used in high performance lubricants, including motor oils for consumer and commercial use.

Elizabeth Swinney currently serves as the Refinery System Mass Balance Lead out of the Chevron Pascagoula refinery in Mississippi. She has over twenty years of experience in oil and gas accounting holding roles such as Foreign Trade Zone Analyst, Finance Business Analyst, Oils Planning Business Analyst, Stock Accounting Analyst, and Supervisor.

Elizabeth graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of South Alabama.

Maggie is currently the Mass Balance Engineer at Chevron's Pascagoula Refinery where she supports refinery operation by analyzing refinery performance; validating unit flow meter operation; and partnering with Operations, Technical, and Finance to improve data quality decisions. Prior to her current role, Maggie spent 5 years in Process Engineering where she supported a Hydrocracker, Gasoline Hydrotreater and Distillation units, and a Hydrogen production unit.  In addition to her current role, Maggie is part of the Pascagoula Women's Network leadership team and the North America MARC (Men Advocating for Real Change) Virtual Program leadership team.

Maggie is a 2016 graduate of MSU with a BS in Chemical Engineering.  In her free time, she enjoys running, baking, reading, and watching MSU sports.
